Credit Repair Tips That Can Do By Your Self

Is your credit being bad or naughty? Before you consult a credit repair service or debt consolidation company, try and kick it back in to gear all by yourself. There are many techniques that you can do by yourself to help get derogatory items removed off of your credit and correct erroneous information. Where do you start? Let us tell you.

The first thing to do is to pull a free credit report. Doing this will help you to know exactly what is wrong with your credit. There is a great guide that can be found here that will help you know how to analyze your credit report that you have pulled for free. Once you have done this then you can start doing these do it yourself techniques.

The first thing to do once you have analyzed your credit report is to get your word processing software fired up. You are actually going to write letters to the three credit bureaus which are; Experian, Equifax, and Transunion. The first paragraph of the letter should say something like this;

"To whom it may concern,

I am very upset about the incorrect and erroneous information that is being reported on my credit report. This information needs to be corrected immediately. As you are aware it is federal law for you to check these items and get back to me within 15 days."

The next step is to then list the accounts or information that is incorrect. For example, if your name is spelled wrong or your social security is wrong say something like;

"My personal information is wrong and erroneous. My correct information is as follows: My name is ____________ and my birth date is ____________ and my address is _________________ and my social security number is _______________"

The next thing to do is to then list your accounts that have lates or are in collection. Please make sure to list the accounts as follows:

VISA CREDIT CARD Accnt# 123456789 NEVER LATE

Repeat this step for each account. This will force the credit bureaus to check with the issuing companies. If they can't get a hold of those companies within 15 days then they by law have to remove the accounts. If your personal information is wrong, it is possible that many accounts will be removed because they are not associated to your correct name and social.

Once you have written the letter make a copy for each credit bureau and then make sure to include a copy of your drivers license and social security card and make sure you personally sign the letter. If you miss this step they will not be able to verify that it was you who sent the letter and nothing will get done. Find the addresses to the credit bureaus at the bottom of your free credit report and then send off the three letters. You will then get information back to you within 15-30 days from the bureaus letting you know if anything got removed. If nothing did get removed then it is time to consult with credit repair services or credit repair attorneys.

or . . .

you can go right to the websites of the respective companies, generate your free report and use their "dispute information" feature and have all of that done in 24 hours, such as I did two days ago.
